Cherry Hills Village Land Preserve

Our Accomplishments

We have been a partner in realizing the first conservation easement in Cherry Hills Village. This is the Anderson easement placed on the 17.5-acre Anderson Farms property located in the heart of the Village. CHLP worked quietly behind the scenes in cooperation with others for over two years to move this project forward. This easement will protect the property from subdivision and development and will preserve the natural features and historic landmarks on what is one of the most beautiful and significant properties in the Village.

We have completed High on Country: A Narrative History of Cherry Hills Village. This book will be available for sale to the public on April 12, 2008. The printing of this book was made possible through the generous contributions of community members. Sales from High on Country will help fund the work of CHLP. But just as important, we hope the story of our history will help foster in Village residents a sense of responsibility for preserving the qualities that make our community such a desirable place to live.

We are now qualified to hold, monitor and defend conservation easements and, with the cooperation of the City's Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission, have drafted a Model Conservation Easement for preservation of open space.

We have developed a "White Paper" on Open Space Recommendations and advocated for conservation measures before City Council, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and in the context of the City's Master Planning Process.
